11/07/2021: AF1 Engine restoration

Just recently completed, this Aprilia RS125 (AF1) engine came to me for for a rebuild and a bit of a refurbish. A running engine of about 9000 miles, the original factory finish had corroded and the owner assumed the internals were in need of an overhaul.

On stripping the motor it was in generally good condition, so it had new seals fitted and service parts replaced. The cases all got coated to restore the original finish and the overall outcome is great to see.

The cylinder and head went to Mick Abbey to have the ports cleaned up and the chamber reskimmed, making the rebuilt engine a bit crisper and ready to go.
